THE INTERNATIONAL TRADE UNION CONFEDERATION (ITUC) AFRICAN CHAPTER, held their 13th Session Annual New Year School (NYS) in Lusaka, Zambia at Mika Convention Centre. This important international NYS is hosted on rotational basis in member countries. The 13 Session of ITUC conference has been hosted by Zambia, courtesy of the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU). This New Year’s conference was held under the theme dubbed, “ADVANCING AFRICA’S TRANSFORMATION AGENDA: MOBILIZING FOR TANGIBLE TRADE UNION ACTION COLLECTIVE AGENDA“
Activities conducted, included, a match past and speeches which culminated into International Union leaders delivering a petition on DEBT RELIEF to the Minister of Labour and Social Securities – Hon Brenda Tambatamba and selected embassies accredited to Zambia.
Molema the ITUC president in delivering her speech underscored the fact that, “Our demands are clear and our resolve unwavering as we stand in solidarity with workers, vulnerable citezenry and communities affected by the burden of debt,” she said in part….
