The main mandate of the Department for Research and Economic Affairs is to provide the Secretariat of the Zambia Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) with factual, technical and analytical data for the Congress to carry out its functions in a more efficient and effective manner.
The main goal for the department is to conduct support functions, in coordination with other departments that will ultimately improve the lives of all workers economically, socially and politically.Â
RESEARCH & ECONOMIC AFFAIRS
Other day-to day tasks include:
- Responding to parliamentary and other stakeholders’ enquiries on legislation which may impacting/impacting workers
- Drafting workers proposal for consideration in the annual national budget to ministry of Finance
- Engaging with stakeholders on economic, social and political matters of impact to workers
